Devon - This letter is to put in writing what I have told you over the last 20 years and more recently what you have been able to accomplish during a difficult divorce for me.

You have sold and assisted us in purchasing three properties in north San Diego County at various times in our lives and now in two significant downturns in the economy.  You never showed us a property that was unsuitable for us or our affordability because you always listened very carefully, you conducted yourself in the most professional manner at all times and were always patient with explaining difficult terms, and most importantly you brought qualified buyers to the table and closed escrow for us when we needed it the most.

I always joked that I wish I could do more real estate with you – but that is because I wouldn’t enter real estate negotiations without your professional ability and your innate sense on handling a deal and putting it together so it works.  I don’t know how you do it with such grace and calm.

Currently I am in a difficult and long drawn out divorce and need to sell my home that you helped us purchase 10 years ago. During the divorce, you were actually the ONLY thing both my ex-husband and I could agree on, so much so that you are named several times over in our court documents as our agent to get us through this difficult personal period and unprecedented economic downturn.  Not even the head of the North County Court could get us to agree on much.

In short, I would be lost without you.  You have brought a high level of traffic to our unique property through your hard work and focused marketing program and I am confident with your personal skills and trust both my ex-husband and I have in you we will shortly have it in escrow and sold so we can both move on. 

I appreciate your careful listening, patience, and professional attitude at all times under what must be difficult circumstances for you as well.  My own family law attorney has commented that he believes you “walk on water” as you were able to work through resistance on both sides, mistrust, and gain consensus from two really bitter homeowners. No small feat since two attorneys and two judges could not get that accomplished.
